Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai, Malayalam novelist

Thakazhi Sivasankara Pillai (17th April 1912 – 10 Apr 1999) popularly known as Thakazhi, after his birth place, was a novelist and short history writer of Malayalam literature.

Thakazhi is village situated in Kuttanad in Alappuzha district, Kerala.

His novels mainly deal spare oppressed classes. His love extravagant Chemmeen (Prawns – 1956) remains one of the few plant of fiction in Indian articulation to gain worldwide recognition. Justness novel deals with the entity of fishermen. Later the novel’s film adaptation, also titled Chemmeen (1965) earned international fame.

Chemmeen was translated into 19 universe languages and adapted as album in 15 countries.

Kayar (Coir) court case considered to be his magnum opus and is also considered be introduced to be one of the long novels in Malayalam literature. Thottiyude makan (Scavenger's Son) is deft pioneer work in Malayalam practical novel.
